MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- One can observe that the solar eclipse is nearing by the lines that are wrapping around grocery stores in Madison.

"We would have drove an hour to get these glasses," Sarah Brockman said.

She was one of the hundreds of people who frequented the HyVee grocery stores on Madison's East and West side. The West location had a line that wrapped all the way around the building. They ran out of glasses by 1 p.m.

"I think it is great that everyone is getting involved with the scientific community. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this," Tyrell Lovings, a HyVee cashier said.

Lovings has seen hundreds of people in and out of the East side location specifically looking for these glasses. He thinks it's great to see young kids get excited about the eclipse.

For those not wanting to spend over $10 a pair for the glasses at HyVee, SourDough Bakery is having an eclipse party on Monday from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be 90 pairs of solar glasses to borrow at the party, in addition to some punny food specials.

"We want everyone to be able to enjoy it and obviously we don't want anyone getting hurt!" Emily Hutchinson said.
