One woman killed after being hit by a train on Madison’s west side
Police say the woman was walking along the tracks late Thursday night.
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Late Thursday night, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train on Madison’s west side, according to the Madison Police Department.
Officials say the incident happened just before 11:00 p.m. along the railroad track in the 5400 block of Old Middleton Road near Whitney Way.
MPD says there is no evidence of criminal wrong-doing in the incident. Police say there is no indication of impairment or negligence on the part of the train operator.
The name of the woman has not yet been released. Early Friday morning, all normal railroad traffic has resumed.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, four people were killed and nine others injured in railroad crossing crashes in 2019.
