MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Investigators with the Madison Police Dept. have found multiple shell casings on the city’s west side as they investigate reports of shots fired in the area.

According to the initial police report, officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to gunfire near Tanager Trail and Kroncke Drive. A member of the NBC15 News team reported hearing approximately a dozen shots around that time.

Police did not say how many shell casings were recovered in all, but another NBC15 News journalist saw at least nine on the ground.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, police noted, adding that no injuries nor property damage has been reported.
