Here are the Badger State Olympic athletes competing Saturday
TOKYO (WMTV) - Dozens of Olympic athletes over the next couple weeks will compete for Olympic gold over the next couple of weeks. Here’s a look at some of the ones competing today and where you can watch them.
Rose Lavelle to compete on Tokyo turf
Rose Lavelle, UW-Madison alum and midfielder for OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League, will be competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Saturday for Team USA.
The United States women’s soccer team takes on New Zealand in a Group G game starting at 6:30 a.m. CST Saturday. You can watch the competition on the USA network.
Lavelle played for UW Women’s Soccer (2013-16) and won the gold in the 2018 World Championship. She was the number one overall draft pick at the 2017 NWSL College Draft by the Boston Breakers.
Wisconsin volleyball player looks to repeat MVP performance
UW-Madison alum Lauren Carlini will play for Team USA’s volleyball team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Saturday.
The women’s USA team will compete against Argentina in a Pool B competition at 9:05 p.m. CST Saturday.
Lauren Carlini of UW-Madison was chosen MVP and Best Setter at the 2018 Pan American Cup where she started all six matches, ultimately leading the U.S. to gold.
Wisconsin athlete competes in Olympics 3x3 Basketball
A UW-Madison alum will compete in 3x3 Basketball Saturday for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Rae Lin D’alie is originally from Waterford, went to UW-Madison and played in Italy - FIBA 3x3.
While playing for UW Basketball (2006-10), Rae started 131 of 132 games, setting a university record for consecutive games played and started. Her Instagram is @rmdalie11.
