MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -It’s a First Alert Day as we move through Wednesday. An approaching cold front will tap into hot and humid conditions to fuel storms. These storms could be on the strong to severe side. At this point, all types of severe weather are possible. This includes damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Heavy rainfall could lead to areas of flooding as well.

FIRST ALERT UPDATE: Latest severe weather threat places an "Enhanced Risk" for much of southern Wisconsin. I am digging into the data and will have the very latest this evening on NBC15 News.

There is the possibility of two rounds of storms Wednesday. One during the early afternoon and another heading into the overnight hours. Both rounds could be severe, but round two is highly dependent on some clearing after the initial round. All types of severe weather are possible along with heavy rainfall. Scattered showers and storms will continue Thursday before slowly clearing out on Friday.

Two rounds of storms looking likely Wednesday. Both rounds have the chance to be severe but the first will impact what happens with the second. Strong to severe storms still looking possible.
