House and two cars are a “total loss” after Town of Middleton fire
TOWN OF MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) - A family in the Town of Middleton is without a home and two cars, after a fire destroyed their house early Monday morning.
Dane County Dispatch says they received a call just after 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, about a house fire at 3800 block of Bay Laurel Lane in the Spruce Hollow neighborhood just north of Mineral Point Road and Pioneer Road.
The caller reported flames were coming out of the back of the house.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says the fire appears to have started in the attached garage, where two cars were parked. It then quickly spread to the rest of the home.
No injuries are reported, the family of four and their dog were able to evacuate and head to a neighbors house.
Authorities are calling both the house and cars a “total loss.” The estimated damages are around $700,000.
The sheriff’s office has not officially released the name of the family, but the family thanked their neighbors and first responders in a statement sent to NBC15.
“Although this mornings events were extremely difficult for our family we are extremely grateful that God provided safe passage for our family and our dog to safety. It is by his grace we are all safe today. We cannot express our gratitude to our incredible neighbors who saw the blaze starting and rushed over to alert us. Also for their hospitality and support throughout the early morning hours.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Multiple agencies from several different counties responded to the fire.
Since there are no fire hydrants in the area, crews had to bring water in to fill a reservoir in order to put the flames out.
A neighbor has set up a Go Fund Me page to help the family in the interim and as they begin to rebuild.
This is a developing story.
