Janesville man in custody after armed robbery, police pursuit

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A Janesville man is in custody after an armed robbery that occurred early Friday morning at the Golden Oil BP in Janesville led to a police pursuit.

The Janesville Police Dept. has identified a person of interest for this incident as 30-year-old Trevor Michaels.

Michaels is currently being held at the Rock County Jail on a probation hold, an update stated.

Janesville Police Dept. responded to the scene at around 5 a.m. after a man displayed a firearm in the business and demanded money from the register.

He received nothing and fled on foot, according to the police report.

The department said the clerk was uninjured.

The report stated that witnesses observed the suspect get into a White Chevrolet Avalanche, heading northbound on Beloit Ave.

Shortly after the robbery, officials spotted the suspect’s vehicle in Beloit and pursued the suspect.

The pursuit concluded after the suspect’s vehicle crashed near the intersection of Rockport Rd. and S. Walnut St. and police apprehended him, according to a release.

This investigation, as well as other crimes Michaels is suspected to have participated in, are being further investigated.
